Taittinger Prestige Rosé gets its lovely pink colour from the addition of still Pinot Noir wine to the blend, also adding to the rich complexity on the palate and the aromas of red fruits on the nose. This is a great wine for an aperitif or for drinking with desert.

A distinct petrol character can be found on the strawberry, cherry, citrus peel and softly yeast-inflected scents. The supporting mousse is quite generous if not particularly fine though there is good complexity to the juicy and succulent flavors that offer solid persistence on the moderately dry finish where a hint of bitter cherry pit appears. This is drier than most rosés and there is an interesting contrast between the depth of the mid-palate and the somewhat fruit-driven character of the finale.

(70% pinot noir and 30% chardonnay; L1357SP00500): Vivid orange-pink. Aromas of raspberry, candied rose and sweet butter, with a deeper cherry pit quality in the background. Offers juicy red fruit and tangerine flavors that become toastier and spicier with aeration. Clings impressively on the finish, which features zesty mineral and citrus pith nuances. I like this wine's blend of power and vivacity.

Quite a deep tomato hue, though more pink than red! A little bit of reduction on the nose. Quite aggressively sweet on the front palate. Not as refreshing as the Gusbourne Rosé 2015. Even slightly sickly. And without much evidence of age. A very straightforward, even simple, pink champagne. More sweetness than actual flavour.

A particularly good value.

A firm, toasty rosé, with roasted hazelnut and smoke notes underscoring kirsch, dried strawberry, piecrust and fresh ginger flavors. This is lip-smacking, softened and balanced by a fine, creamy texture. Drink now through 2023. 3,000 cases imported. –AN
