Some of the fruit in this wine comes from vines that are over 100 years old, making them some of the oldest in Australia! Even the 'young' Shiraz vines are thirty-five years old which is still fairly aged in vine years. With age comes a greater depth of character and this wine is exactly that; generous plummy fruit, soft tannins and hints of nutmeg, smoke and vanilla.
James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion
Good colour; vivid purple hue; deep, dark and inky bouquet, with blackberry and liqueur cherry on offer; the palate is dense and chewy, with tarry tannin offsetting the generous fruit; a big wine, made very well, and given the dimensions of the wine and the 100 year old vines, amazing value. Special. Value. Closure: Screwcap. 15% alcohol. AUD$19
