Ripe peach and pear are laced with candied grapefruit rind and shadowed by poire distillate in a penetratingly high-toned nose and on a concentrated, lush, yet piquantly zesty palate. There is a welcome influx of bright primary lime and grapefruit juiciness as well as saliva-liberating marine minerality to this wine’s lingering finish – features from which the corresponding Lorch cuvée could very much have benefitted. Piquancy of pear pip and citrus rinds extend the finish without bitterness getting the upper hand or inhibiting the wine from fulfilling its primary duty to refresh.
