As this vintage is currently out of stock, you may like to check out these alternatives: Review from eRobertParker.com (2013) (Score: 90): The outstanding Grand Veneur 2012 Cotes du Rhone Blanc Reserve (a blend of 50% Roussanne, 40% Viognier and 10% Clairette) may be the highest-quality dry white Rhone made at this price point. Abundant white peach, honeysuckle and spring flower aromas intermixed with a hint of apricot marmalade jump from the glass of this lovely, medium-bodied, crisp, fresh, pure yet intense and perfumed white wine. Drink it over the next year. As longtime readers know, Grand Veneur is one of the best-run estates in Chateauneuf du Pape, but their flagship Chateauneuf du Pape offerings are priced too high for this Best Buy report.

Bright straw. Emphatically fruity on the nose, displaying scents of fresh pear, melon and orange, with a hint of white pepper adding lift. Smooth and open-knit, showing good breadth to its ripe orchard fruit and honeydew flavors. A refreshingly bitter touch of lemon zest adds cut to the dry, slightly ungiving finish.

They also run a negociant operation under the -Alain Jaume- moniker that also produces well-made wines from various southern Rhone appellations. For starters, they have the Midas touch when it comes to white grapes. Well-known in these pages, Fran Kysela runs a surprisingly large volume import business with a strong focus on value-priced wines from Southern France, Argentina, Australia, and Spain.

Bright green plum and green almond notes are backed by hints of creamed peach and brioche on the finish. Drink now. 300 cases made. –JM
