St Ignatius is the flagship wine from Sevenhill Cellars. It's got Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet France - as you might expect but there's a bonus 10% Malbec too! Malbec might have become the USP for Argentina but it's originally from the south-west of France and it's rather nice to see it in this Australian take of the famous 'Bordeaux Blend'. The blackberry fruit is nicely concentrated and has lift from pertinent tannins that are well placed in this wine. An excellent food wine - especially good with red meats.
As this vintage is out of stock, we would be happy to suggest an alternative if you contact us by email or phone.
James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion
Full crimson-purple; cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec and cabernet franc were planted in 1991, always intended to make this wine. The full-bodied palate has blackcurrant, plum, licorice, earth and tar set in a crown of tannins and quality oak. The balance is there to justify long cellaring. Special. Closure: Screwcap. 14.2% alcohol. AUD$40
