Unit: 75cl

This wine is named in honour of St, Aloysius Gonzaga, a man of great intelligence and a born peacemaker, who joined the Jesuits at age 17. It is made from small vineyards on the Sevenhill estate yielding only the most complex Rieslling characters. It has concentrated elegant perfumes, and in the mouth the wine combines the fresh zest of citrus flavours with the toasty, nutty character that comes from bottle age. The St Aloysius is a sophisticated wine that is notable for its purity of Riesling character.

You have to read the back label to find the varietal, which is not surprisingly, riesling; this edition will polarise as the strong bouquet reveals toast and kerosene; the palate though is lively and generous, with citrus ranging from lemon to orange; toasty and with a lick of bitterness on the finish. Closure: Screwcap. 11.5% alcohol. AUD$29
