Sorry, this product is sold out.

At 18 years old, this wine is just coming into its peak drinking period, which will last for many years to come. We tasted this in May 2014 and it blew us away. The wine had been decanted for an hour or so before we tried it, and as soon as our glass came to our nose for the obligatory sniff, we were transported to another world. There is a depth of complexity and age on the nose that had us entranced, and we spent far longer than we normally do teasing out the different aromas and basically just enjoying ourselves. Moving on to tasting the wine and it just got better and better. Heaps of complexity, really fine tannins and deep, although refined, fruit. A very long, intense, finish. There are very limited stocks of this remaining worldwide, so get it while you can!

As this vintage is out of stock, we would be happy to suggest an alternative if you contact us by email or phone.

Good deep red-ruby. Claret-like aromas of plum, currant, earth and smoke, with an intriguing vegetal complexity adding to its appeal. Lush, fleshy and ripe; noteworthy flavor development gives this wine considerable early personality. Finishes with strong but sweet tannins and persistent plummy flavor.

The 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon is superb. This opaque purple-colored effort reveals aromas of black currants, creosote, smoke, minerals, and plums. It is full-bodied, with exquisite density and terrific fruit purity and intensity, particularly in the mid-palate and length (always good signs for wines that are meant to improve and last). There is plenty of tannin, but this is a generous, impressively endowed wine that should stand the test of several decades of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2025. The Seavey estate has 40 acres of vineyards, yet yields are so low that in 1998 they produced only 2,340 cases!

Firm, tight and complex, with a rich, focused band of spicy currant, mineral, plum, cherry, cedar and anise, turning rich and flavorful on the finish. Best from 2001 through 2010. 1,175 cases made.–JL
