The Institute of Masters of Wine

In the industry of wine, there’re a few elites, who have richest experience and most professional wine knowledge. They are called Master of Wine (MW). Till 2013, there are 312 masters worldwide, from Europe, America, Asia, and Australia and so on. Most of them are from UK, total 193; then US, total 34; third Australia, total 19; fourth France, total 16; and Asia, total 5. Two of them are from Hong Kong.

Jeannie Cho Lee MW is the first female master of wine over Asia and the first Asian master worldwide. She attended the exam of Institute of Masters of Wine twice and passed it the second time in 2008.

Debra Meiburg MW was born in California; however, she lives in Hong Kong over 30 years. She also got her MW title in the year 2008 and built the first real wine competition the same year, Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition. She publishes her own book, one Debra Meiburg’s Guide to the Hong Kong Wine Trade and the other Debra Meiburg’s Guide to the Shanghai Wine Trade, with viewers up to 60 million per month.
