Portugal's Best-Known Douro Valley
The Douro region is very famous for both its Port Wines and its table wines. They are divided into three main categories, red wine, white wine and rose wine.
The reds are made from many grape types, like Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz (Aragonez), Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cão. E.g. 2011 Dows Vintage 375ml (half bottle).
White wine is produced from grape varieties such as Malvasia Fina, Viosinho, Gouveio and Rabigato. Often the white wines have “Reserve or “Grand Reserve” written on the label.
The rose wine has a pink colour and combine sweet and sharp flavours. The wine is great with light meals.
