A few notes on films that feature wine:
  1. Sideways

There’s one grape variety Pinot Noir mentioned so many times in an American comedy-drama film “Sideways”, which emphasizes wines are alive and similar as human life. The leading actor likes Pinot Noir the most. Because he thinks Pinot Noir needs continuously care and it grows where it can be suitable. The film drew attention and increase in tourism to the Santa Ynez Valley wine-growing region of California's Central Coast.

We carry many Pinot Noirs from around the world.

  1. A Walk in the Cloud

The film describes a young soldier returning home from World War II and meets a train passenger, a pregnant graduate student, Victoria Aragon, whose family owns a vineyard in the Napa Valley. He stays to help her with grape harvest and to face traditionalist family as her husband because her boyfriend actually abandoned her. They finally fall in love. What a romantic story! Please see what we have from Napa Valley.

3.  Babette's Feast

The film mainly describes food and wine, which metaphors human spirit and emphasises culture connotation of food and wine. In the movie, no matter the dishes and wines, both become classical. One of them is that Veuve Clicquot matches Blinis Demidoff very well.

We carry Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne Brut NV, discounted price 370$.

4. Mondovino

Mondovino was firstly intended to be a two-month affair as a break between feature projects. The film offered the Director Jonathan Nossiter an opportunity to use his knowledge as a trained sommelier when working at Balthazar restaurant in New York and a chance to visit some of the great wine regions of the world, e.g. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Napa Valley and Château Lynch-Bages.  For now we still have some wines from Château Lynch-Bages, 1996 Château Lynch-Bages and 1999 Château Lynch-Bages.
