Differences between New World Wine and Old World Wine

Someone describes a wine as being Old World or New World can be quite confusing. But you may distinguish them per two main aspects as following:

  • Geographical location: usually new world wines are originated from Australia, New Zealand, North America and South America; while old world wines are from Western Europe.
  • Wine style: new world wines are of strong fruit aroma and high degree of alcohol; while old world wines include higher acidity and tannins, with lower degree of alcohol and stronger earthy flavors.

We carry both new world and old world excellent wines as below:

New World: 2012 Sevenhill St Ignatius, 2013 Wild South Sauvignon Blanc, 2011 Proposal Merlot Reserve

Old World: 2010 Château Lestevenie Bergerac Rouge, 2009 Sassicaia, 2010 Lealtanza Rioja Reserva
